Libraries: here for the long run15-21 May 2000 Australian Library Week OrationThe Australian Library Week Oration was established in 1995 to provide the opportunity for a prominent Australian to provide commentary on social issues and the importance of information to all Australians. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2000 Australian Library Week Oration which was scheduled to take place at the State Library of Victoria on Friday 12 May will not be proceeding. We wish to thank the State Library of Victoria and the ALIA Victoria Branch for their co-operation and hard work. Libraries around Australia will be celebrating Libraries: here for the long run ALW2000 during the week 15-21 May. Please check with your local library for a selection of events planned for ALW and visit the ALW activities pages on ALIAnet for a general listing of other activities being hosted. We look forward to planning future Australian Library Week Orations in 2001 and beyond.
