Activities in Victoria

13-20 May Hume-Moonee Valley Regional Library Corporation E-World: Technology for @ll:
Will be running a week long technology based program entitled 'E-World: Technology for @ll.' The extensive program will include sessions on: advanced searching techniques for the internet; how to set up an email account; how to buy your first home pc; genealogy on the internet; using the virtual library for all your research needs; share trading online; shopping and banking online; travel online; using microsoft publisher and much more.
The activities are free or for a nominal charge and full details can be obtained from any branch of HMVRLC or by contacting ph 03 9740 9001.
14-19 May Swan Hill Library Week Events Events at the Swan Hill Library:
include static displays promoting library activities and services, participation in the National co-ordinated Storytime to be held on Thursday afternoon at 2pm, and an amnesty on lost and overdue fees for return of items.
Daily introductory tours will be held at 11am and 3pm for new members or visitors to the library. The tours will be 15-20 minutes, and may be used to ask questions about specific collections or services. Staff will be rostered to conduct the tours, and will gladly concentrate on areas of particular interest.
The amnesty will apply to long-overdue or 'lost' items. Members are encouraged to return these items through to the Library, Mobile Library or after-hours chutes, and fines will be waived for the week of May 13-19.

14 May Bayside Library Service Bibliofest 2001: Celebrate Federation.
Bayside Library Service is commemorating the centenary year of Federation by providing a range of FREE activities and events that celebrate our history. We chose Australian Library Week as the ideal time because not only are we celebrating the diversity within libraries but also the wide range of historical events of which we are proud.

Join award-winning author, Susanna de Vries as she presents a discussion and slide show of her most recently published works. Susanna will discuss Blue Ribbons, Bitter Bread, the true story of Joice NanKivell Loch an international heroine, and Australia's most decorated woman, and her latest book Great Australian Women, a collection of 15 mini-biographies of Australian pioneering women.

17 May Wimmera Regional Library Corporation Books for babies launch
Wimmera Regional Library Corporation has initiated this project to introduce babies and their families to the wide range of resources and activities their local libraries offer. The aim of the Books for Babies project is to give to every newborn baby in the Library's region a calico library bag containing a range of items to promote the importance of reading to babies. The bags will contain a special board book, a booklet of nursery rhymes and verses, information about the Library and an enrolment form.
The Wimmera Regional Library is very pleased to welcome the Bendigo Bank as the sponsor of this project. The very popular young person's author John Marsden has agreed to launch the Books for Babies project and is very pleased that the Wimmera Regional Library Corporation and the Bendigo Bank are promoting literacy in this area.
The Books for Babies scheme will be launched at Rupanyup Library, 10.30am.
