ALIA Fellowships

The Board of Directors may confer the distinction of Fellow on a member who, in the opinion of the Board, has reached an exceptionally high standard of proficiency in library and information science and has made a distinguished contribution to the theory or practice of library and information science.

Nominees should have at least eight years' standing as an associate or library technician member and be a personal financial member.

Documentation should provide as much evidence as possible of the nominee's eligibility. Such evidence might include, but not be limited to:

  • a record of sustained high achievement and leadership in the field of library and information science
  • an outstanding contribution to the Objects and work of the Australian Library and Information Association
  • academic and professional qualifications
  • authorship of publications or bibliography on library and information science, and
  • conduct of research or development in any field of library and information science.

Nominations may be made at any time
This award is peer-nominated. Confidentiality in nomination is essential and nominees should not be aware that they are being nominated for an award. Premature disclosure of details may prejudice consideration of the nomination. The Board of Directors confers Fellowship.
