Think Global, Act Local: SDG Symposium for the GLAM Sector - Newcastle Regional Library and ALIA

Primary tabs

Newcastle Region Library, in partnership with ALIA, presents Think Global, Act Local: SDG Symposium for the GLAM Sector. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss, plan and workshop how the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are relevant to our industry and how local collective actions can support an international movement.

Keynote speaker, Christopher Woodthrope Director of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), will lead the conversation, explaining the scale of the global goals, their universal application and potential impacts globally, nationally and locally. Presenters will provide international, domestic and local interpretations of how our industry can participate in the achieving the SDGs.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the SDGs and the commitment by the International Federation of Libraries (IFLA) and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) to work towards these goals. Confirming the importance of the SDGs to our communities we will workshop the challenges, opportunities, solutions and possibilities of a regional commitment to a collaborative compact.

Free. Bookings essential via Eventbrite. Morning tea and lunch provided.
