Crawford Award winners

Congratulations to West Torrens Library, winner of the Jim Crawford Award for Innovation in Libraries announced in December. West Torrens Library staff and partners developed a package of strategies to change a library which was under siege with multiple weekly incidents involving youth. The foundation of the youth strategy has been the partnerships formed including an African youth worker based in the library 2 nights a week through the Multicultural Resource Centre; SA Police Cadets running a weekly youth games night; Australian Refugee Association offering a specialist Homework help program and an internal partnership which has facilitated activities and programs such as Finding My Place.

Second place was awarded to the City of Onkaparinga for the unique partnerships they formed to run the SA Writers Festivals and Poetry Unhinged festivals.
