Introducing ALIA Information Literacy Forum!
What is it?
The ALIA Information Literacy Forum was formed to foster a common understanding of and advocate for information literacy within ALIA and the wider community. More information on the group can be found at the groups.
Who is it?
It is ALIA members exploring and supporting information literacy. To date there are over 600 members drawn from all Australian states, overseas and from a variety of sector. The group is lead by an executive committee. The executive is made up of information professionals, mostly from higher education, but also from the VET sector. Members of the executive committee include:

What does it do?
The forum is involved in many and diverse activities including
- maintaining a regular newsletter
- contributing to ALIA submissions to the government on matters as alerted by ALIA
- advising ALIA of any external related matters they should be aware of in relation to information literacy
- collaborating where possible and appropriate with other associations or groups on information literacy related professional development activities (Adult Learning Australia, IFLA information literacy Group, National Forum on Information Literacy (Washington DC)
- growing and maintaining the group e- list as a \'community of practice\' where discussion of day- today information literacy issues, dilemmas, and conundrums can be discussed, as well as theoretical and conceptual issues
Why should I join?
Simple, we need you! Your energy, your experience, strength and hope; your stories, successes and failures. Through your involvement we can further develop our activities and understanding about information literacy in all contexts (ie community, educational, corporate and so on).
