ALIA office-bearer's guide

The office-bearer's guide has been developed to assist office-bearers in conducting their duties as representatives of ALIA. Within the Constitution and the By-laws of the Association, and under Corporations Law, office-bearers have certain responsibilities. The guide sets out these responsibilities, provides guidelines to assist in carrying out those responsibilities, and includes the name of ALIA National Office staff member who can provide more detailed advice and/or assistance.

Your involvement is vital to the success of the Association and your energy, professional experience and skills will contribute significantly to the co-ordination of activities on behalf of members and the profession.

ALIA was incorporated under Corporations Law in February 2000, and its activities are defined by its Constitution and By-laws. The Constitution sets out the Association's governance, and office-bearers should consult the Constitution on all matters. The By-laws give guidance on operational matters. All of the Association's activities are aimed at promoting the Objects of the Association - recommended reading for all office-bearers.

The guide is a living document and will be updated, expanded and altered as issues arise. It also exists as a downloadable Microsoft Word document [127Kb].
