The Coolum Library is located within Jack Morgan Park in the coastal town of Coolum. Centrally located, though not visible from the street, it is tucked in behind the local shopping and entertainment strip, with the Coolum Civic Centre and a childcare centre adjacent.
The Coolum Library acts as a community and economic stimulator by assisting community members to enhance their skills, expand their opportunities, access Justice of the Peace services and facilitate learning. Micro business owners and start-ups enjoy access to free Wi-Fi, workshops, use of the wide range of resources and personalised spaces. Outreach services are provided to local Men’s Sheds, playgroups and child welfare groups to name a few.
The library services 13 schools and early learning facilities and seven retirement or aged care facilities in the surrounding area. Weekly Story-time and Rhyme-time sessions that promote early learning for children under five are very popular with parents and children. Seniors enjoy the connectivity with community provided by libraries through workshop participation and using the social casual seating areas.
