Training, Teaching, Facilitating

This course will meet the national Training Package Unit TAEDEL301 "Provide work skill instruction".

Course Overview

Teaching others is an art, and a science. Do you understand the best ways to teach something new to a group, or to an individual?

This 4 week course will provide you with the basic principles underpinning teaching and learning, at any age, and focus on developing training resources and delivering training in the library environment.

Upon successfully completing the course, you will receive an official academic transcript from TAFE NSW, RTO 90003, showing you have met the unit's requirements (TAEDEL301 - Provide work skill instruction).

No entry requirements - no previous study is required to participate in this course.

Course Objectives and Content

This course will provide skills and knowledge required to conduct individual and group instruction for any age group, demonstrate work skills and assess the success of training and one's own training performance in a safe and comfortable learning environment.

You will specifically cover:

  • Basic principles of teaching and learning
  • Characteristics of learners
  • Organising training and developing learning resources
  • Conducting and delivering instruction and practical demonstrations
  • Monitoring of learning progress and outcomes and adjusting training to suit learner needs

  • Work in a library or the information industry
  • Would like to increase your knowledge about the theories of learning
  • Want to update skills in training and assessment
  • Wish to develop your confidence in training others

Course Delivery

Training is conducted by TAFE NSW through online delivery.

Participants will connect with each other through forum discussions.

There are no specific times you need to be available.

The time investment required is 5 hours per week of structured study, this includes the completion of assessment tasks. Some individuals may elect to spend additional time on their own research and study. 20 hours is indicative for Training, Teaching, Facilitating.

There are assessments where students receive a Unit Assessment Guide. This outlines the requirements for the unit, grading etc. This guide includes the number of units and due dates. Participants will receive formal assessment guidelines for each assessment and will receive formal feedback sheets.

The course can be completed in 4 weeks but as it is developed to be self paced, it can be finished earlier or later depending on your learning styles and needs. If you wish to vary the usual time taken, please discuss this with your teacher.
