Maribyrnong Library Service is seeking a dynamic and motivated Children's and Youth Services Librarian to join the team and deliver bespoke library services to the young, their families and carers at our vibrant Braybrook Branch. Our ideal candidate is customer oriented with experience in the delivery of library programs and collections, preferably in the area of Children's and Youth Services and with experience curating children's and young adult collections and providing library services to people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Due to an internal secondment, this is a temporary full time position working 35 hours per week until 30 June 2022 and based at our Braybrook Library branch, however, may be required to work across other library locations within the municipality, as required. Please also note the Children's and Youth Services Librarian will also be required to work rostered desk shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Develop and deliver library programs and collections to children and young adults, their families and carers;
Maintain currency of collections by regular assessment for mending, weeding and replacement as appropriate and according to the Collection Development Plan;
Plan and organise children's and youth regular and one-off programs within set budget parameters;
Produce promotional materials (hardcopy and digital) pertaining to children's and young adult services;
Deliver outreach visits in order to promote literacy, reading and library services including to local primary and secondary schools, Maternal and Child Health Centres, Kindergartens, Community Centres and Neighbourhood Houses and other appropriate organisations and groups;
Foster and maintain positive relationships with relevant community partners and stakeholders;
Effectively contribute to providing excellent customer service experiences for community members.
To be considered for this role, you will possess:
A tertiary qualification in library or information management that confers eligibility for professional membership to the Australian Library and Information Association with previous experience in a similar role;
Experience in the development and delivery of children's and young adult services and programs;
Demonstrated experience and confidence in the use of digital resources, software and hardware;
Highly developed communications skills and the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.
This position also requires the following:
A Working With Children Check;
A current Drivers Licence;
No criminal record found in a police check.
