Media Literacy Week

Participate in Media Literacy Week (24 to 31 October). The library and information profession can play a vital role in combating the spread of spin, dis and misinformation and 'fake news'.

Event Information

Media Literacy Week is coming soon, from 24 to 31 October, and there are plenty of ways that all libraries can get involved.

In a world where misinformation and disinformation are quickly becoming a global issue, the library and information profession can play a vital role in guiding its community in evaluating media and identifying sources. Media Literacy Week is an opportunity to highlight the valuable skills that library and information professionals can utilise to support media literacy, and build a stronger awareness in their community.

Here are some ideas for events your library can run:

  • Quiz night where you guess fact from fiction
  • Special book club meeting
  • Author talk
  • Internal training to brush up on your staff's media literacy skills
