ALIA co-signs statement calling for well-funded and resourced school libraries

Canberra, 29 September: The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) has co-signed a statement which calls on the Australian Government to ensure equitable access to appropriately funded and well-resourced school libraries. ALIA has signed this statement alongside the Australian School Library Association (ASLA) and the Australian Education Union (AEU).

ALIA CEO Sue McKerracher says, ‘this statement has been some-time in the works and presents a unified front to advocate for school libraries and qualified school library professionals. It highlights the importance of school libraries and what must be done to provide this much needed support’.
