Research Review Series: School Libraries Report

Research Review Series: School Libraries Report

Join us for a Research Review Seminar Series session presenting Dr Lyn Hay's research project into Australian school libraries. The report is part of the broader Professional Pathways initiative, and addresses the specialised needs of school libraries to achieve a diverse, valued, and supported LIS workforce.

The earlier Professional Pathways Technical Report (2022) written by Dr Gillian Hallam identified three areas of specialist LIS practice that would requite bespoke treatment to support their complex environments, one of which is the school library sector. The aim of Dr Lyn Hay's report was therefore to identify necessary skills for school library staff (including teacher librarians, librarians, library technicians and library assistants), support course development, accreditation, micro-credentials and continuing professional development (CPD) for those working in school libraries.

You can read the report here: https://read.alia.org.au/alia-professional-pathways-school-libraries-research-project-report

There will be time for questions at the end of the session. If you would like to send questions ahead of the webinar, please send them to [email protected] by Monday 28 November.

The ALIA Research Review Seminar Series provides a platform for academic and practitioner researchers to share and discuss their work and projects with the wider library and information sector community. ALIA endeavours to support the process of research being translated into practice by bringing researchers together with professional practitioners and on-the-ground workers in an engaging, informal setting. If you would like to discuss your research or have an idea for the series, contact: [email protected]
