ALIA webinar: Proposed changes to Constitution

Primary tabs

In our 80th year, 2017, it is appropriate to recognise that the context within which our Association exists, the ALIA Constitution, warrants reflection. Like past leaders in our profession our Board is proposing a change to the ALIA Constitution to recognise current concerns of our age and the global context in which we work and live.

The board is proposing that we include ‘environment’ in the first Object:

(a)To promote the free flow of information and ideas in the interest of all Australians and a thriving culture, economy, environment and democracy.
and add a new Object:
(f) To endorse the principles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights- Article 19 and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in response to the many challenges faced by the world today and into the future.
This supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDG’s) and the Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This webinar will provide background information and discuss these proposed changes.
Please note the webinar will start at 12:15pm (AEDT) and run for one hour - please register here.
This webinar is for ALIA members only.
