Friday,3 February 2017, Canberra: The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) congratulates Lyndall Osborne on her nomination and election to the Vice President-elect of the Board.
Following the ALIA Annual General Meeting on 17 May 2017, Lyndall will assume the role of Vice-President until 2018 when she will become the President for one year.

'Technology influences library service development and continues to drive successful transformation. Engaging with the digital environment and understanding its impact is more necessary than ever. Research shows libraries are increasingly valuable to individuals, communities and society. They are a place for personal growth and reinvention, a place for help in navigating the digital age, and safe, trusted social and learning spaces. We must ensure libraries continue to hold a vibrant and relevant place in communities, in education, research and industry, supporting the national and local social dialogue, and being recognised by government as key social and educational infrastructure,' she said.
Nominations for the general Director positions have been received from four ALIA Members; Alicia Cohen, Jonathon Guppy, Clare O'Dwyer and Anne Reddacliff.
As the number of candidates exceeds the available positions, a formal election will now be held.
