The theme for Library and Information Week 2013 (20-26 May) is ‘Share your story’, with libraries across Australia inviting users to tell their tale in all sorts of different ways – in words, pictures, on film, and through social media.
In addition to all the local activities, from Monday through to Friday there will be special events at a national level:
Monday 20 May: Launch of Library and Information Week and Project 13, promoting the role of school librarians in helping to keep children safe online
Tuesday 21 May: National Library Technicians’ Day promoting the role of library and information technicians professionals
Wednesday 22 May: National Simultaneous Storytime, involving more than 400,000 children in Australia’s biggest single storytelling event
Thursday 23 May: The Australian Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea in the library
Friday 24 May: Redefine ‘library’ – a social media push to ask Australians to create a new definition that better describes the diverse role of library and information services
More detail is provided on the ALIA website www.alia.org.au and the home page news section will be updated during the week.
