Digital Access to Collections website and toolkit

Canberra. Thursday 2 February, 2017: Glam Peak has launched the Digital Access to Collections which is an online resource for small to medium galleries, libraries, archives and museums in Australia.

The Digital Access to Collections project is an initiative of GLAM Peak – the peak representative bodies of the galleries, libraries, archives and museums sectors in Australia – with funding from the Australian Government through Catalyst, the Australian Arts and Culture Fund.

The online resources are designed to unlock collections held in large and small organsiations, making them discoverable for everyone.

The resources include:
  • Toolkit - practical tools for volunteers and staff in small to medium GLAM organisations in Australia that are collecting digital items, undertaking digitisation, and providing online access to their collections;

  • Case studies -  examples of how six diverse GLAM organisations around Australia are approaching digitising their collections and making them digitally accessible.
The initiative has been driven by Museums Australia and National and State Libraries Australasia, with support from the Australian Library and Information Association.
