The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is pleased to announce that the book for National Simultaneous Storytime 2020 (NSS 2020) is Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas written and illustrated by Lucinda Gifford, published by Scholastic Australia.
The book tells the story of the chickens Whitney and Britney and the signing fun they get up to. Registrations for NSS 2020 will open in November 2019 and you can pre-order your copy from Scholastic Australia. You can keep up to date with NSS 2020 information on social media using the #NSS2020 hashtag.
2019 saw more than 1,138,889 participants, from more than 11,554 locations. Making 2019 our biggest most and successful year yet, with 1 in 28 people in Australia reading simultaneously. Additionally, we had participants from New Zealand, Thailand, UK, Canada, Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong. 2020 will be 20 years of National Simultaneous Storytime, and we want to make it the biggest year yet.
About National Simultaneous Storytime
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. It is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy.
