Situated between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay Regional Council is the third largest local government in Australia and is responsible for meeting the needs of more than 425,000 residents across 2,037 square kilometres. Moreton Bay Region Libraries is one of the largest and busiest Local Government library services in Queensland and provides collections, programs and spaces that connect people to resources and each other across 10 branch libraries and a mobile library.
In 2015/16, Moreton Bay Region Libraries received more than 1.48 million library visits with around three million items loaned to 165,790 library members. The library service collection provides over 600,000 items available to borrow or download for free, access to PCs and the internet, printing and RFID technology enabling self-service loans and returns.
North Lakes Library at Corso is situated in the suburb of North Lakes, approximately 26 km north of the Brisbane CBD. North Lakes mostly consists of newly developed housing and has a population of more than 15,000 residents, increasing from 6,500 in 2006. North Lakes is major activity centre with a major shopping centre and a wide range of business and employment opportunities and education facilities. North Lakes Library is situated in the central business district of the locality.
