ALIA Industry Partners

Industry partners play a vital role in the library and information world. They not only provide the equipment, furnishings, software, education, products and services that are so essential to library management and infrastructure; they also support conferences and exhibitions, advertise in publications, sponsor events and awards, provide insight into the trends affecting the sector in Australia and worldwide, help advocate for and promote libraries, and contribute to the Australian innovation agenda.

We are proud to have a number of industry partners as Corporate Members of ALIA, as well as many more who are active participants in ALIA initiatives.


ALIA conferences, PD days, summits and other major events could not be staged without the support of industry partners. Without the investment in exhibition stands and sponsorship, registration fees would be beyond the scope of many delegates.

Exhibitions provide a lively and informative addition to the main conference program. For industry partners, it's not just about connecting with the budget holder. They enjoy talking to the people who use their products and services every day, and value the feedback they receive.

Many library and information professionals find that a job in a library-related business enhances their knowledge and skills. A number of senior library leaders have worked on the supply side of the sector and say that it has broadened their perspective and had a positive impact on their progress up the ladder.

We welcome industry partners' support for LIS education. Industry partners are encouraged to join course reference committees, volunteer as guest lecturers, to offer work placements, internships, awards or scholarships for students. People working for suppliers to the industry are encouraged to participate in all that the association has to offer.

  • ALIA Weekly is our free weekly newsletter, available to anyone free of charge, which keeps you up-to-date with the latest happenings in the sector.
  • As members of ALIA, staff with library qualifications can join the ALIA PD Scheme.
  • We have more than 40 ALIA Groups, which provide an excellent opportunity for networking.
  • ALIA hosts many smaller events during the year - and for the most part, they are free to attend. Check the events calendar for what's coming up.
  • Industry partners who are ALIA Members are eligible to stand for the ALIA Board. Nominations open in November each year.
