Library Lover's Day Breakfast

 

Dear Colleagues

Firstly our hearts and support go out to you all in these unusual and difficult times as we work together (as library folk always do) to meet the challenges our environment is facing - in the natural environment, in our personal environments and also in our work environments!

ALIA CRR (Canberra and Region Retirees) Connect and Chat- CANCELLED

PLEASE NOTE: The first event on Wed 5 February has been CANCELLED.  The next event will be held in March 2020.

 

The first 2020 ALIA CRR (Canberra and Region Retirees) Connect and Chat Event will be held on Wednesday 5 February 2020.

 

We will meet at the Portrait Cafe, National Portrait Gallery from 11am for coffee and/or lunch.

 

Connect and Chat provides an opportunity for library people to keep in touch post retirement and we welcome established and recent retirees and those aspiring to retiree to come along.

 

ALIA CRR (Canberra and Region Retirees) Connect and Chat

The last Connect and Chat for 2019 will be held on Wednesday 6 November at Bookplate, National Library of Australia from 11am.

Connect and Chat is held once a month February to November, with a summer break over December and January. ALIA CRR (Canberra and Region Retirees) provides a casual opportunity for all who worked in the library sector in the ACT and surrounding areas to keep in touch post work. Come along for coffee and/or lunch.

Interstate and overseas visitors are always welcome.

ALIA CRR (Canberra and Region Retirees) Connect and Chat

ALIA CRR (Canberra and Region Retirees) next Connect and Chat event is on Wednesday 4 September.

We meet at Bookplate at the National Library of Australia from 11am.

 

Connect and Chat is held once a month and the aim is for Library sector people who have retired to keep in touch.

We start at 11am over coffee and stay on for lunch. Come along for coffee or lunch or both.

 

Here are the dates of Connect and Chat through to November:

Leigh Hobbs - Writer, Artist.

A special 'white gloves' event - presented by the National Centre for Children's Literature (NCACL), and hosted at ALIA House.

 

Leigh Hobbs has created some of the most memorable characters in children’s books. Who doesn’t love the incorrigible Old Tom, Fiona the Pig and the much-travelled Mr Chicken? Join Ruth Nitschke as she takes you up close to the many items created by this award-winning author/illustrator that are held by NCACL. Max Brown will also discuss the various challenges of artwork conservation.

Bob Graham - Writer, Artist.

A special 'white gloves' event - presented by the National Centre for Children's Literature (NCACL), and hosted at ALIA House.

 

NCACL holds Australia’s largest collection of material created by the reknowned children's author and illustrator, Bob Graham. Drawing on this collection of items from Max and A Bus Called Heaven Rowan Simpkin will take you on a journey that shows how Bob created these much-loved books. Max Brown will also discuss aspects of artwork preservation.
