Event Description
Have you heard about seed libraries and been curious about how one could be incorporated into your workplace? Keen to learn more about seed libraries and the role they play in a good world?
Seed libraries are as diverse as the communities they serve and there is no right way to create one. It can be a small box of seeds as part of a Citizen Science Corner or an entire network of seed libraries with inter-library loans - and everything in-between! This session will provide inspiration and plenty of practical advice to help you play a part in a seed library initiative.
The webinar will be hosted by Lauren Markwell, Convener of ALIA Green special interest group and Customer Service Supervisor for Noosa Libraries and Jacqui Lucas from ALIA. Lauren and Jacqui will be joined by Rebecca Newburn, founder of the international Seed Library Network and Dr Bride Schultz from teachSTEM. Bridie has been the powerhouse behind the development of Citizen Science Corners in libraries around Australia. The webinar will cover:
- Why start a seed library?
- What is involved in setting up?
- What are some examples of existing seed libraries?
- How to incorporate seed libraries into local programming?
