Please refer to the Institution Handbook (available in Member Resource) for instructions on how to access your Institution Staff List (page 4) and add staff members (page 8).

Kick off Library and Information Week by discovering how libraries, industry partners, researchers and broadcasters are helping communities build the skills to navigate today's complex information landscape. Hear from representatives from the University of Canberra, PressReader and the ABC as they explore evidence-based approaches to media literacy, including insights from the Stay Smart Online evaluation, the Ready to Act report, and The Matter of Facts workshops being delivered in public libraries across Australia.

Bios

Saffron Howden is a PhD candidate at the News & Media Research Centre, University of Canberra, investigating media and AI literacy as a response to misinformation. She is an author, journalist and editor with 25 years' experience in the Australian news media.  Photo YES

Gladys Omari is the Impact Producer in the Documentary and Specialist division at ABC Sydney. Prior to this, she worked as a multi-platform news reporter at ABC News Adelaide. Gladys was also a TV reporter for Behind the News and before that, a radio presenter and producer at ABC Gippsland. Photo YES 

Ruairí Doyle is the CEO of PressReader, a global digital platform connecting libraries and readers to thousands of newspapers and magazines from trusted publishers worldwide. With deep experience in digital media, publishing, and content distribution, Ruairí works closely with libraries and publishers to expand access to quality journalism, support reading and research, and strengthen media literacy in communities. He regularly speaks on the changing news landscape, audience trust, and the role of libraries in an increasingly digital world.
